My name is Barbara Throne and I am a certified Infant Aquatics Training instructor in Fort Worth, Texas, with years of experience. I am a Fort Worth native and a lifelong swimmer, scuba diver, and kayaker. I have always been around and loved the water.

My grandchildren entered an Infant Aquatics Survival course after my   nephew's son had a near-drowning experience. I could see how well they did with the swim-float-swim method of instruction, and I became interested in becoming an instructor myself. With my love of children and watersports, I wanted to help children enjoy and be safe in the water.

I completed a very rigorous training program in Dallas, Texas, with Instructor Beverly Steinfing, R.N., as my supervisor. I underwent over 100 hours of in-water training in addition to learning the physiology, psychology and development of children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years as those areas apply to swimming and water survival.

I am certified in infant, child, and adult CPR, AED, and first aid.

I have my own heated pool (88°- 90°), filtered with a state of the art   purification system, so I can keep the chlorine level low to help   with eye and skin   irritation. I have a heated and cooled changing area near the pool and a patio for parents.

The leading cause of childhood non-auto accidental death in Texas is drowning. I feel it is very important to give your children the ability to survive on their own in the water, and build a positive foundation for life-long water enjoyment. It is so exciting to witness the aquatic learning process! Babies and young children are transformed from total helplessness in the water to confident, capable swimmers in   weeks. The program provides the added benefits of increasing self-esteem and independence in children while bringing relief and confidence to parents.
